On the night of October 26, 2016, voters across Saskatchewan went to the polls to elect their local governments. At the time, I was working as a reporter for 106.1 The Goat in Lloydminster, which sits on the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Due to the way the city government is set up, the community follows the Saskatchewan municipal election schedule. At the time, I had never had the chance to cover a municipal election, despite covering one by-election, two provincial elections (on both sides of the border) and the federal race in 2015.
After the municipal race was done, I was left with a fairly large array of images, of which I had published only a few. I wanted to put these together into a photo story on the anniversary of the 2016 race, and show a wider range of the images from that particular moment in Lloydminster's history.
