Ross was a former education trustee in Lloydminster, and had previously run against outgoing mayor Rob Saunders. Aalbers came into the race after taking issue with the way the city government handled the disclosure of a contract signed it signed with former mayor Jeff Mulligan. This was being at the Legacy Centre, a community centre conveniently close to City Hall. They showed a landslide win for Aalbers, and I had to run back from the front door of City Hall to the Legacy Centre.
