My name is James Wood, and I am a multimedia reporter with CHAT News in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
I entered the world of photojournalism because I enjoy communicating visually, writing the news, and shooting multimedia pieces that engage members of the community. Community news, national events, features, portraits, you name it, I want to cover it.
I come from a media family. My mother and father actually met on Parliament Hill while working in the National Press Gallery. In my time as a staff reporter/photographer for a thrice-weekly newspaper, and now in radio, I have found that I look forward to every day at work, because it is never the same.
I was born and raised in Ajax, Ontario, and began my media career in the world of print after completing the Photojournalism program at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario in 2014.
After working for two years at the Lloydminster Meridian Booster in Lloydminster, Alberta, I transitioned to the newsroom at Lloydminster’s rock radio station, 106.1 The Goat in early 2016. Soon after, I came south to Medicine Hat in 2017.
I now work as a digital journalist and radio reporter for CHAT News.
In my time as a staff reporter/photographer for a thrice-weekly newspaper, and now in radio/tv/digital, I've always been looking forward to every day at work, because it is never the same.
I hope you enjoy my work.
